Totoo yan, in France, ang daming may resident papers na nung hindi nila naipasa ang language, yung papel nila naging "visitor" visa na lang. Wala na sila permanent resident, unless they pass the french language, olalalalahhh;
then yung iba naman one year pa lang na declare, after renewal ng papel, nabawi, visitor na lang, hindi alam kung bakit!!! kung wala work sa France, wala papel, meaning wala rights for govt benefits....Ganun kahigpit, gaya sa denmark.Mama mia! mahirap ba ang danish language?

denmark is actually also one of the toughest EU countries to get in. from what i have seen on news, they have one if not the most "racist" ( as the other extreme would say) immigration policies. it seems that they are always the first country in the EU to come out with the strictest rules. often, i heard them saying, "france or the netherlands or blah blah have all these crimes because they are not tough, blah blah blah..." then if you are a foreigner with a danish spouse, or migrant worker, etc. you must learn their language in 3 years and pass 6 exams to be able to stay permanently. doesn't matter if you have the most stable job, or the perfect marriage, if you can't speak the language you're not qualified to be a danish citizen. danish classes are free in the first 3 years but after that it's not and it's not cheap. there's an integration officer that is assigned to you. we call them parole officers in our danish class. they don't do their jobs properly but they send you all these forms to sign to explain why you are absent in class. duh!!!

Kung hindi ako naging french cit, baka hindi siya makapunta dito forever.Wala kasi siya work, wala asawa, wala pera.Miracle na minsan mag kavisa, these days.
Ako nga nun year 2003denied visa ako sa spanish embassy.Grabeh sa interogation tapos i deny lang.
Now, eu national na ako and it means freedom to travel talaga.

pareho kami ng case ni anonymous. luckily for me, my schengen visa was approved. i had 3 visas issued all together. for my 3rd visit, we got married na denmark. we decided to have it in denmark because his mom could not travel long distance (maybe next year we do it again in the phil, for my mom and family). maybe there are variations in rules between EU countries, but I assume if it's a schengen visa the requirements would be pretty much the same. tsaka the variation would be, in denmark's case for example, a supplemental form apart from the standard EU schengen visa application form. so aside from the usual requirements (certificate of employment, certificate of leave of absence, last 3 months payslip, bank certifications) i had to answer some personal questions on the supplemental form: how long have you known each other, how did you meet, what are your means ofcommunication, how often do you communicate or see each other.... yung first application lang ang madugo. the last two ones were less nervewracking. the first time i got my visa which was good for 10 months, i was not able to travel right away. i was busy sa work and my father died. when finally i was able to take the time off, i bought my ticket and flew to manila (from davao) to go to the embassy to show them my return ticket and my visa approval letter to get my visa stamp, gusto pa sana nilang i-cancel. kasi daw bat di ako agad lumipad. my visa was valid from march to december and i was traveling in august. wala na daw akong record, etc. etc. apply daw ako ulit!!! with all the patience i could muster, i told the lady at the embassy (pinay staff): i have a valid danish visa approval letter which states the validity of my travel, i fulfilled all the requirements, i have bought my insurance and tickets, i am leaving in 5 days and i intend to, so i want to speak with the consul as i understand from the letter that i can appeal for any rejection. i will not spend money on another application without being explained to me why my visa is being cancelled. after half an hour of waiting, i got my visa after all. :-) and the rest is history

mejo napahaba ang comment ko. sorry. i just want to share, tyagaan lang talaga at suerte na rin. pero ang importante we do our research and maayos lahat ng papel. palagay ko, isang malaking consideration sa kanila is not just your intention of coming back to the philippines, kundi yong ma-convince sila na babalik ang turista based sa mga papeles na sinubmit sa embassy. mahirap yong part na yon, kasi may mindset na rin ang mga consul based on their experiences.

does france have the bank guarantee requirement for citizens who are hosting a visitor from another country? in denmark, if you are a host (e.g. fiance(e)/ host bf or gf), you will be required by the government to put up a bank guarantee of around 7.500 euros for the duration of your visitor's stay. once you have put up that bond, that is in effect until the end of the visit. once the visitor returned to his/her home country, kailangan mag-report agad sa danish embassy-consulate in person. they will acknowledge that the visitor has flown out of denmark and the bank bond is lifted. kasi pag hindi, liable yong danish host na bayaran ang gobyerno nila nung guarantee amount.

As for my daughter's application last Nov 22, no news yet.So its like hanging in cliff pa kami.
Nagahawat hawat(in suspense) kami, what to expect.

I assure you, Normandy is a nice town. France has a lot to offer in each town and the competition for touristic attractions are stiff.
That makes France a great country to visit, because they promote french culture, food,wine, and special markets to please the locals and the tourists.
Today, husband and I will visit vide greniers(okay okay) of quality paintings, and antiques and what evers, then we will see chateau de berne, one hour from Nice to eat in a gourmandise resto(traditional meals).
Weekends of december, all shops are open, kaya dami magaalaan!!!!
Cristmas season even dull sometimes in France,but if with your bf next to you, you will enjoy it better than christmas in Phils.
Get that visa and book a trip.See you around in Nice!!!

i have been to europe 2010 for thirty days. also went to various countries in asia so meron mga visas sa mga asian countries yung nga lang expired na hahahh. in normandy sya. bale he is a french teacher sa korea. we actually dont have plan b yet but i know that getting married is not an option now as we are just in the early stage. ayo ko naman mag pakasal for convenience lang. yung kunuha kung visa this time is 90 days. siguro if ma deny we will go to the embassy together when he is here and ask for options. i really hope e ggrant nila kasi uuwi naman ako dito kasi andito pamilya ko. andito buhay ko!

I heard a lot,of visa denied like in your case.Unless you have been traveling in Europe, Canada USA and Japan.Or a diplomat backs up your application that you will not stay in France after the visa expires.They want to be assured you dont stay longer than requested.But keep your fingers crossed.Baka naman this time, meron ka visa.Where is he in France?Lunes, you will have some news from the embassy.If denied, if lang ha, whats plan B?

hi fran, u mean if they wont issue me a visa, we have no choice but to get married? geez grabe naman yan. we are just in the early stage of our relationship palang. i dont want my bf to marry me just bcz of visa purposes. i want him to marry me bcz of love... real love. call me stupid but i still believe in the essence of the sacrament of matrimony--- and that is love. when the time comes and he asked for my hand then why not, but for now I don't wanna pressure him... but yes I love him so much.... Grounds for refusal are not communicated unless the refusal concerns a person who is a family member of a EU national or for whom an alert was issued in the Schengen Information System for the purposes of refusing entry. The applicant may appeal before the Commission de recours contre les décisions de refus de visa d'entrée en France, which is instituted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The appeal must be lodged within 2 months of the notification of the decision. The Commission may either reject the appeal or recommend to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to issue the visa.

If the Commission rejects the appeal, the person concerned may lodge a petition for annulment with the Council of State within 2 months from the notification of the decision. The petition shall explain the facts and the legal means involved in the case. The Council of State is not entitled to order the issue of the visa. In the event of annulment of the decision taken by the Commission de recours, the Foreign Minister will have to make a new decision upon the visa application. An appeal may only be lodged with the Council of State if, beforehand, petitioner has unsuccessfully filed a motion with the Commission de recours.

hi fran, i love reading your blogs. i just applied for a 90 days visitor visa to france and will know the result on monday. to calm myself i decided to look for articles and saw yours. waiting for the result is driving me crazy. i have no plans of getting married in france as we are just in the getting to know each other stage of our relationship for now. the only reason why i wanna see france is bcz my bf is from there so ofcourse when u love someone, everything that matters to him matters to u as well. fam's important bet the two of us so he decided to invite me to meet his parents and friends in france. i hope the embassy will grant me a visa as my papers are complete and i hv no bad intentions. sobrang kabado talaga ako lol
