Bonjour!
That is the on going debate in some french forums and radio at the moment.
Ang dami kasing french nationality na still hindi adapted ang paging isang tunay na french.
Which is understandable.
France do not have only filpinos.
They have multi nationality, some immigrate here, some married a french, some are italian married to a german and live here with children born here.
I took some comments and i found them very interesting:
I read also in french newspaper, the comments which I translated :
"To be french is to speak french, respect the govt, and the laws, and never criticize France"
"If we are in the point of asking what is our national identity, it is already too late to discuss"
"To be french,i think that all those who came here must accept our way of life without imposing theirs...."
"To be french, appreciate the good wine!!"
"To be french, be ready for strikes every week!"
"To be french is to have the French national id, nothing more."
"I feel french only when I watch football and heard the national anthem before the game starts. Otherwise, I dont feel french at all."
Grabeh sa comments, haha.

I don't think being able to speak French makes you 'French'. My boss speaks and writes French fluently, and so are the millions of lebanese who could fluently speak and write french. The fallacy is just wrong.
What makes us Filipinos? It's not just we speak the national language FILIPINO. We're a nation and it transcends nationality and boundery. It runs in our blood. You may acquire other nationality but you'll forever be FILIPINO.
The same is true with being FRENCH.

That's what you get when you have a multi-cultural society. They can't define clearly their nationality or what it means.
Same is true with Americans. Try asking them what constitute an American. You'll be amaze at their different concept of being an American.

be french or filipino, it doesn't really matter as long as u're a good citizen either ways...enjoy ur dual nationalities instead. not all people has that kind of opportunities u have now Miss F.:-) ingat
being a filipino, in france, i missed my way of filipino living, same as other nationalities did here.
The french allows all that, but to impose violence, impose their culture and criticize france.
No way, the french said.
if they dont like France, complain France is this and that, they just go back to their own country.
But no one did.haha

lmagine in Philippines, we will be surrounded by european nationalities, imposing us to drink wine and eat camembert or roquefort(foulsmelling cheeses)
imposing to filipinos BY THE LAW to learn football, than basketball and boxing...
ano kaya!

IT IS SIMPLE!
Filipinos- being known to adapt whatever country they are... To be a good citizen is to LOVE and RESPECT the country where they are...or else if they cannot do that..then better to LEAVE the country than being hypocrite!...
