Radiotherapy

Friday, December 12, 2008
I was operated for a benign cyst on my left breast last October 15 and after few visits with the surgeon, he declared, I must pass the radiotherapy for two months, obligatory.

Ngek!

I refused. Im healthy, the tests were proven I have nothing to worry, but still I must undergo radio therapy???
Of course, doctors are for our health, fine, cant say no.
I started the sessions last Dec 4 here:

How is a radiotherapy done?

I was put on a room, lying down in a table, half naked, arms up, a ray machine on top of my head while a set of five radiologists were looking after the tv screen next door. Two girls explained to me, that on the first day, I will lie on this tumoral bed for 15 mins, the doctor will mark the area with a needle, put an ink, so that everytime I have the sessions, they already know where to burn.

Ginawa akong pandesal! And the needle hurts.

Then second session, I was told off, I should not erase the pen ink they put. Hey, cant I take a bath???
They marked again at the same spot with a needle then ink.
My breast is sensitive, ow!
I winced with pain. Grrrr.

I learned from french friends, that some who undergone radiotheraphy experienced nausea and vomitting.
I was afraid of that.
I was thinking, if after two weeks, Im not comfortable, I quit.
After all, Im not married to them.

My 3 burn sessions so far did not hurt me, but will take 5 mins for two months, ending Jan 30,2009.
Was it like that in your country, just having a blooming cyst ?
They said, it is to eliminate any possible future cysts to grow.
Dont know.

In Phils, my sister got a cyst also, it was removed and she was let off.
No sessions of radiotherapy.
Baka it only applies in France?

Anyway all sessions are free of charge.Monaco SSS can even refund my travel expenses to the hospital.
But,its not that Im complaining.
Im worried of the effects.
Some I heard got burned needlessly.

Hmmnn. Age syndrome strikes?
Im just going to be 46 next month!

Shhh.

I had 20 consecutive sessions of radiotherapy and I had no burn whatsoever. (I had breast cancer.) Just don't apply lotion and don't use soap on the affected area. Yes, don't erase the markers because they determine where the radiation is to be aimed at.
no idea, but just follow what they say, they should know what they're doing. bon courage!
just take care of yourself, ok..
yung iba, basta cancer, will pass chemotheraphy, yung nakakalbo na ba.

sa case ko, benign, radiotheraphy daw.
at least, i thank na rin, i still have my two complete breasts, pwede pa mag bathing suit on summers... haha.
I believe that we should always follow doctor's advice because they are the specialist. I know sometimes we could be against it but if it's a matter of health, well we cannot do anything but to cooperate! Good luck Francesca !
Pero true na bumabalik ang cyst kasi ako twice na naopera sa breast cyst din kasi nga bumalik pero benign din and they termed it as fibrocystic. Buti nga dyan preventive measures agad ang iniisip nila, kayang kaya mo yan!
Ay buti naman at iba na pics
ture mo dito. Supersar ka na talaga pag inattempt pang iclone. Visit mo other blog ko for new pics kasi first time ko mag long dress as in muuumuuu dress, waaaaah.
di ko alam kung ano dapat mong gawin pero usually kasi sa experience ko ung mga doctors minsan kahit di kailangan they still ask you to do it tapos lagi di ngeexplain like napanood ko sa news madaming cases ng cesarian na wala namang valid reason.

anyway bonne continuation :D
I think it's better to be safe than sorry later on. I remember my mother had radiotherapy before but I was only 10yo so I didn't ask anything about it.
bakit ganun? me radiotherapy kahit benign? dito ata hindi ganyan.

nakakapagtrabaho ka pa ba? post radiotherapy? grabe side effect nyan ha...tinakot ba naman :)

ingat ka palagi.
