Consultation with a Doctor
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
My flu gets bad after four days of taking medicine over the counter. I had severe headache have running nose, dried lungs, fever, that scared me, as if I am coming between malaria or pneumonia.
Monday, I went to work and decide that after clearing up the mess at Madame's apartment, I would see a doctor.Madame called and she asked me to cook some lunch. I told her I will prepare lunch but cannot stay long, I got fire in my lungs. She said, its okey and if I am not feeling well, I call it as day off tomorrow and come to work when I am well.
Nice, she is kind.
To see a doctor is to make an appointment in advance. Unless you find one in some apartments, their names are found in entrance doors with office hours. But I am not sure to find one near my Madames' apartment. My phone rang again and Madame said if I can go to Monaco hospital, she made an appointment for me to her Family Doctor.
She is kind, again.
I popped at the urgences section of the hospital to see her doctor. The secretary asked me a few questions. In hospital or even in apartment clinics, they always register you before you can see a doctor.
They asked:
Nom?
Prenom?
Age?
Date de naissance?
Votre Address?
Numero de telephone?
Vous étes assurée a Monaco/France?
Numero de Securité Social?
Mama mia, parang papasok ka sa Army, LOL
Then she asked my reason to see the doctor. I have to think about it in french, and she seems to spot me as if I was making it up, that goonie!
J'ai un... ano ba in french yung flu, mama mia. Ah, rhume, j'ai une rhume, et je prennait quelque medicament donnait par une pharmacist, mais c'est pas bon.
Then I have to think about how to say, headache( maux de téte) feeling really sick (apparition de nausées) running nose(nez qui colle), i dont know if I made it right, the secreatary kept on typing...
Then she said, take that form, i fill it up and a nurse will be calling me in a moment. Asseyez vous, Madame... Upo na raw ako and so I did.I filled up the form, name of insured, date of birth, address,SSS number, signature.
Then a nurse called me after 5 minutes. Same story I have to relate: maux de tete, nez qui colle, fievre, feu de poumon, ewan if tama spelling dito and ewan kung tama sinabi ko in french don sa male nurse. He checked my temperature. he showed me a stapler looking gadget and ready to staple me in my ears. Iwas ako, ano siya! He said, n'inquitez pas Madame, then a heard a tick sound and he pronounced: 105!
Ganun na ngayon ang pagkuha ng temperature, not existing na yung behind your door(pwet) na itusok, or ilagay sa kilikili or sa labi. Salamat sa aids, iniwas na nila siguro ang mga ganun, less cleaning pa.
He noted the medicine given to me by the pharmacy, and told me, to take off my jacket, and the second pull over, I leave only the petite blouson daw, and said; see you later, the doctor will be in a minute.O sige, hubad, pero ano siya, ka ginaw ah, so I put back my second pull over...
The doctor arrived after ten minutes, checked my lungs with his stethoscope, massage my forehead, look again at the files, and said: the medicine you took promotes sinusitis, so your headache accelerated. I will give you a new medicine, some antibiotics. And, next time, you must see your generalist before any specialist can check your health. Nanermon pa,eeeh, malay ko noh!
When I recieved the ordonnance(prescriptions) I went out quick. The hospital will charge me via mail and I will pay only 20% of the bill which is 5.70€ for consultation fees.I run out quick, because I got phobia in hospitals, after my neck operation, the doctor might decide I stay for few days, mahirap na!
When at home, I asked Michel what is it, that I need to see a Generalist before going to have a check up with a Specialist ek ek?
Before answering, Michel looked to my prescription who was the doctor that I visited, and he said:
"You were diagnosed by the inhouse doctor of the hospital, and as your sickness is not urgent, you must have disturb him to his rounds of visits... And they dont like it, because the law in France (and Monaco) an insured member of SSS must have his/her own Generalist Medicin(Family Doctor)"
Hmmn, malay ko, all I know I am used to go there, and as long as I got what I need, ciao!
Ganyan din ba sa bansa nyo? In Philippines I always bring my family sa health clinic in our barangay, lol
Update: okey na lola nyo, I am now eating nicely. And no prescribed suppositories! yehey!
