MY EXAMS IN DRIVING IN FRANCE: CATEGORY CODES OF THE ROAD

These are sample exams and there are lots to know more every time, 4x a week.
Im still in this codes, answering theoritic questions to pass. So far, I am on 5 -6 errors,(for 6months, kakahiya!) out ot 40 questions and the school still do not want me to drive, until I know all the codes. I showed my intl DL issued in Phils, but they said, you will take a road tests and codes of the roads exams first before issuance.
Times changed! Before, without these tests, a filipino can change the phil DL to French DL, easy. Not anymore...
The photos are the exams, in category: Overtaking (depassement in french)

Other categories are: signalisation, eclairage, priorities, notion pratiques, etc etc.
Michel tried the exams, he failed having 15 errors out of 40, he had been driving for 50 years!
I showed the exams to my french friends , they tried, I got better scores, LOL
And they speak and understand french language already !!!

The codes are very difficult. The french language added to it. How can I pass it quick! waaah.
Girls, if you are the driver, what is your answer to these photos? Heeeelp!

1.Do I have to leave the priority to the white van? Yes or No?

2.I finished overtaking, should I stay in my way or go to the right?

3.Can I overtake this red car on my left?

4. Should I blow the horn to warn them and overtake, or stop behind, wait until they finish talking.

Whats your answer to these?

Here is the acceleration lane photos:

sorry girls, photo not clear copy lang from the book kasi.

photo taken today at Nice east acceleration lane when Lolo and I passed by.click on photo for bigger size.

The red triangle is " give way" signs sa acceleration lane.So cars from this acceleration lane must give way to cars from the motorway.Click photo for bigger size.

Yes, a Philippines driving license is VALID in France. It is exchangeable but you must do the exchange within a year of you arrival in France. Yves did this with Mikkie. She's driving now I heard without going through the theory and practical exams.

I will try. Here's my answers:

1. You must give way to the van because it is joining the traffic from the acceleration road. Also its ahead of you.

2. Always keep right, thus you have to change lanes and move to the right. But before doing so, check your inside mirror and turn your head to the right to look then do the signaling to the right. After those are done, you can change lanes. A single mistake here in Holland, such as you forgot to turn your head or you signal before checking the mirrors or turn your head, you fail.

3. Overtaking must be done on the left. If you want to overtake the red car, you have to overtake him on the left. If you overtake him by staying in the same lane, which is on the right side of the red car then thats wrong. A big no-no and means you fail the practical driving exam.

4. You stop. The white marking in the middle of the road is solid, meaning no-overtaking.
Jori's right, i did the same as Mikkie and had my license.

Hmmm, try ko nga to and tell me the real answers hehe.

1. No. It's a 'cedez le passage' for the van so I have the priority.

2. It's a 3-lane autoroute. I could choose to stay in this lane or eventually turn to the right if i drive slowly. In this case, follow the answer of jori.

3. hmmm, practically speaking, i'll keep my speed and if ever i approach this red car, lalampasan ko na lang sya while staying on my lane.. but the good answer is jori's answer...bad driver ako e..

4. naku lola, you have to wait till they finish their blahblah...anyways, it's a solid line so no overtaking, 2nd, there's a white car coming, so they ka rin makakalusot hehe..

so what are the answers?
No. 1
give way to the van, kasi nga voie de accelaration si white van! kaya mali sagot ko, hinahanap ko yong line in between wala, kaya sabi ko, oy ako priority.
2. mali ako, kasi, sabi ko di ako pede mag turn right, kasi may kasunod na kotse on my right, pero mali daw ako, ang sagot na tama, after overtaking, go to the right, but make sure, no one is in your right, and always, kakainis, sasabihin sa iyo, rabats avec prudence (go right with care!)
so ang batas, hindi pede mag overtake on the right but! may but, pede raw kung traffic!then add na naman nila ang salitang avec prudence! (inis!)

aargh, kakaloka!

Korek lahat si Jori!no wonder kuha agad liscence niya!

isa pang pangpahina ng sagot ko: all questions are in french!Eh, within 30 seconds lang time limit to answer.

Kaya labo labo sagot ko!

To get this liscence, noon pa sinasabi ko na kay Michel, pede ako. Sabi niya NOOOOooo!
mahal ang ticket pag nahuli 135, at pag na ospital ako, mas malaki. then yong kotse daw namin tataas insurance!
kaya insist niya: get the lessons!

at times di ko alam kung it is useful to listen to husbands!

kelangan daw muna , one year titre de sejour and phil dl on valid dates.

Anyway, there's no short cut talaga. Polish up your French quick, thats the only way to make things easier for you. Memorize everything and take this seriously.

I took the exam in Dutch too. It wasn't easy because some words were difficult and I had to use the English-Dutch-English dictionary when I began the study.

Out of the 40 questions, how much should you get in order to pass?

Also, if you pass the theory exam, how long is the theory certificate valid? Kasi dito sa Holland, its only valid 1 year. If hindi ka pa nakapasa within 1 year sa practical driving exam, balik ulit take sa theory exam.

Pwede si Mikkie like Ana to drive by French law kasi they exchanged their Philippine drivers license during the first year. Ikaw hindi pwede, lagpas ka na ng first year when you went to them. In short, according to French law, drivers license mo hindi na valid. Sayang.

Kainis, here in Holland, my Philippine driver’s license is disregarded!
out of 40 exams, kahit 5 mali, pede na drive.pede na ako, but sa dami namin, baka in three months pa ako i reserve sa kotse to drive! kaya punta punta ako 4X a week, baka ischedule na...

after theory exams, next step ko niyan is to complete my paid 20hours, using the school's car. Driving with instructor next to me baga. Mahal ang per hour, 34 euros!
Pag uwi ko pinas, take pa ako more lessons, kasi si lolo ayaw pahiram kotse, kelangan daw sabihin p sa insurance na i drive ko rin kotse niya! anobayan!

then if matapos ko na ang 20 hours, saka ako i schedule sa police para sa road tests!
i schedule ka kung kelan, after five months pa, kasi dami sila inischedule to road tests!

then after two years, saka lifetime liscence, kaya i think, don na malaki bayad, di ko lang alam .

grrr and grrr and grrr!
bwahahaha, buti na lang pala i got the equivalent, kundi bagsak din ako sigurado. and the problem with me, i have the bad habit na, so pag take ako ng exam, surely, by default, ill answer kung ano na ginagawa ko ngayon..and not the right way...the problem also, i had laurent as my instructor..bad driver din sya!!!

and for the lifetime license, yun na kagad yung nakuha ko, and i paid not a single euro...wala pa yang 2 years 2 years na yan when i got the license...

and hey, i had the A sign for 2 years yata...and now, napalitan na, bébé à bord na hehehe..

naku, mahal talaga yang driving lessons na yan...me isang pinay, 10 years driving experience na sya sa pinas, na fail pa sya nung first try yata..so imagine kung gano kahirap kumuha no...goodluck tita!
helo ate,

Hey Madame,

I started blogging. Check out my

I am still in the process of organizing things.

Thanks,
KK
Ammmmsssss! Miss you much. How ya doin?!!! Tagal ko nawala ano. Busy kasi. Dummie me ano... Di pa nga marunong mag drive eh?!!
Yung number 2 question medyo may alam ako (maybe?) hahaha. Anyway, answer ko "go to the right".. hhmmm... i hope tama ako.
Anyway, i really need to do some serious driving lesson pretty soon. I am back to school Ams (coming August), and it helps a lot if i know how to drive.
See ya... Take Care lagi. regards kay Michel.
Here's mine .

1. You have the priority (they have their cedez le passage sign there, remember the triangle red sign).

2. As a general rule, if there's 3 lanes you should always take the lane. Then you will use the middle & the left lane to overtake di ba! Kasi if you make a mistake on your itinerary you always have a repair because the exit can be only found on the right!

3. Yes you can! We cannot overtake on the right (En regle generale on double pas sur la droite!

4. No you cannot use your horn except for an emergency cases and the famous continuous line is visible therefore you cannot cross the line (sinon tu payeras) at tsaka kung nasa Pinas tayo puede! he he he (on utilise le klaxon en cas de force majeur)

o ayan ha! walang akong kaharap na libro! no cheating at all answered with all honesty Ma'am!
ay kulang yun sa No. 2 ko. On roule toujours sur la plus droite! We always take the right lane!
ay oo nga pala, merong cedez le passage red triangle si white van on his left! aba, di ko rin nakita yon! nakita ni haze! kala ko priority to right of way for white van!

three years, graduate na rin ako! LOL

Honey, welcome. Nice to see you back!
Hi Madame,

First off, sinabi ba kung ano ang make and model ng kotse ng nasa picture, the one that you are supposed to be driving?
It really makes a difference. If you are driving a car with good acceleration or a put-put car meaning a BMW(3.0+ engine) can go faster than a mini(1.0+ engine).

1. Yes, leave priority to the white van. If the left lane is free you can change lane to give way to the van.

2. Stay your way and accelerate to give enough distance. What the heck are you going right? You will cut-off the van.
(look at your rear-view mirror)

3. No, why do you need to over-take the red car on the left if the right lane is open.

4. If we have similar laws, the white solid line means no passing zone. And there is an incoming car in the opposite lane, you should wait and glare at the people talking.
OO di ba ba may cedez le passage pero depende if you will give way! ksi minsan may mga tanong na péige like :

Est-ce que je dois laisser passer le camion blanc? NON je ne dois pas j'ai la priorité ils ont leur cedez le passage!

Est-ce que je le laisse passer le camion? Je peut mais je dois me rabatte

Di ba di ko na translate english hirap maghanap ng words anyway, gets mo naman! hi hi hi
TY haze,
cedez le passage girls means give way.
Priority a droite means: give way to the cars coming from the right if intersection, priority a gauche means give way to the cars coming from left if in the round about. and strictly implemented talaga dito sa France yan!grabeh!
sa pinas, ang bulag may driving liscence!

kaya nag kanda buang buang na sagot ko minsan kasi di ko na alam sa kalituhan ang a gauche,to the left) and a droite(to my right) ko!
pero di ako susuko, lahing gabriela lola nyo!

bukas, exams na naman, at ang instructor, prepared again for us to suffer!
he had 20 dvds, with 6 series per dvd, X 40 exams each series to answer.
He ALWAYS choose where we are mahina, don nya i base to play the dvd!Kasi recorded niya scores namin every exams.

kaya ulit ulit...!
Madame,

Thanks.
Hi Francesca! Sharing what I know of the France's driving permit info:

The "conduit accompagne" is like the student's permit (normally for ages 16-18). They can drive only with the presence of a person with a valid permit & should drive 4K kms with this title before they do the required 20 hour (Hazel was lucky to have this title for now).

After you pass your "code" or your theoretical exam, you have 1 year to pass your "conduit" or practical exams. If not, you have to redo your code.

Once you pass your code & conduit, you will have to drive with the "A" meaning "apprentice" or new driver (not student driver because you can drive alone :) You have different rules (speed limit), starting only with 6 points for 3 years (2 years if you did conduit accompagne) & you'll get your 12 points on your 4th year. I think analyse was also required to use the "A" when she exchanged her Phil license?

Once you receive your driver's permit, it is already for life unless you use up all of your 6 points! I just received my driver's permit last January & it is really a renewed independence :) Good luck on your driving permit! Courage!
No.1 it is in France that if a "leave priority sign" is in the left of the van where he drives, he must wait his turn, so he must give way. If no sign he can go.
But sometimes, roads in France has give ways signs even accelation lane, sometimes, nothing. So the rule is the depends on signages or marks on the road like white coninued lines, open or broken lines, etc etc. Kaya nakakbuang, sabi ni lolo basta I use my common sense, I should use theory because I am learning.
No.2 the correct is after overtaking, you must not stay at speed lanes to give way to those who are using it. So after I overtake, I would go to my right lane, but before doing that, I must look at the mirror if no cars on the right, before change lanes.
kaya nga, inis ako sa: I must go to right lane after overtaking, but avec prudence(with care)!
3. In France, no overtaking on lanes by the right lanes. In US they do, as long as it is possible. In France, no, overtake in left lane, not on right lane. Pag sanay ang driver sa US or Phils, ginagawa nila yon even dito, but if makita sa motor way video, baka ma huli ng pulis, or di kaya yong car na inovertake mo, will hoot hard and long with the middle finger sa yo, kasi takot sila sa overtaking on the left.
4. Tama ka sa straight line, no overtaking, what ever happens.Ganyan din dito. And it is ban to blow horn on urban areas, unless in danger (like kids crossing the streets on green lights)Sa country side, pede horn, basta wala bahay sa paligid.
Kaya when Lolo Michel was in Manila and when stranded in traffic in Cubao, all cars(fx jeepneys, bus, private ) blow their horns, michel said: Olaahh, whats wrong with them! !
And dito speed limit sa motorway is 130km/hr, sa city area 30-50
Pag umuulan, less ng 10kmh/hr, kung may snow, at may fog, 50 kms even motorway. Kadaming palaisipan!
LOL
despite these rules, marami pa ring accident sa kalsada in France, kaya na install ang radars! aba, kumita ang police ng billion euros sa radar implementation!
Hi Madame,

Ay ang daming ek-ek pala diyan ano. I took driving lessons here, mandated by law of Maryland. 40 hours classroom and some hours with the instructor and then 40 hours driving with a licensed driver. I had an A in my lecture class. I didn't finish all my sessions with the instructor kasi panay ang bulyaw niya sa akin. Talagang dapat quick thinking and reflexes ang kailangan.

Manila driving, ay! Grabe, kapit ka nalang!
Very stressful, wala akong lakas ng loob magdrive doon.

Happy weekend.
Pahabol, there are priority signs even on acceleration lanes? It doesn't make sense because when entering a high speed motorway, you need time to accelerate unless all cars are ferraris and can go from 0 to 60 mph in seconds. If coming from an intersection with a yield sign, I can understand because the speed limit is low.

hmmm....
magulo nga KK yong no.1 na question, kasi may give way sign, eh accelaration lane yan!
so I took the book of my instructor, ka vibes ko, hiniram ko, kaya ito and sabi ng book:
When the give way sign is situated in the accelaration lane, the driver must choose a moment of opportunity, and accelerate sufficiently to insert in the main road with out disturbing others that circulate also in the main road.
I ask Lolo about it, he said: thats the most unlogic idea France law ever implemented. Normally, as you said KK, those coming and insert from acceleration road, must not give way. But here it says, in a way: use your common sense to insert!accelerate and insert if got the space and oppurtunity.

eh? The driver must know his wheels properly eh?

And if many cars coming from main road, the one that accelerate has to stop to give way or else BANG!
Kasi motorway yong main road na papasukin niya mostly running from 100-130 kms per hour!
kakabuang mag drive dito kaya hindi basta basta!
then french language pa lahat usapan dito!
di uso english dito! waaah!
Amy, its "european driving etiquette"... you MUST give way to the traffic participant in the acceleration road unless nasa likod mo sya.

The reasons to this is SAFETY. Acceleration roads kasi have a dead-end and most of the cars are accelerating their speed to fit the speed of the highways which is usually 100kmph and more. So if you dont give way to the car in the acceleration road its dangerous kasi the car will hit the dead end at a fast speed.

Thats the logic.
not in france jori. the white van has a cedez le passage sign (means give way sign) kaya he has options to insert or give way depends on the flow of traffic.
I insist to the instructor (in my broken french) sinabi niya, here is the book, i dont invent the law.
I will show the photo tom how it goes, sa new posts, kasi ganon dito sa france, road rules are crazy, lol
The one butting in the traffic must give way, unless indication contraire.
Madame,

Ay grabe pala diyan. At least dito kung merge lane(coming out from an exit to get into a fast highway) ang turo sa amin, pick a spot and merge while accelerating if traffic permits. Meron kasi yung sa merge lane imbes na mag-accelerate, they go to a dead stop treating it as a yield.

sanayan lang yan. soon driving will feel natural as breathing.
I don't know if we understand each other here.

Unwritten rules kasi yang acceleration. Timing-an yan. You must give way to the van if he/she is trying to merge nga kasi like what KK and I said, may dead end - impact ang labas, daming patay.

EU, France or NL its the same thing eh. Driving in Europe is patterned all throughout European highways - this is a pact they signed with the EU, kaya pansin mo lahat ng signs all over EU pareho. All countries in EU have very similar road rules especially on highways and most especially with acceleration roads - this in fact I think is universal eh kasi safet standards are at risk.
i add na the photos. Di ba kakainis ang give way sign(red triangle) na yan!
kaya yng mga nasa acceleration lane, hintay...

*inis, suya, kamot* ulo gaya ni KK
contorversial yang question No. 1 to give way or not. But if i do my way, by inserting without looking and get an accident, my insurance will not pay my damage.kaya inis yang acceleration give way sign na yan! In England there'a a saying: the law is an @ss, lol
