Businesses one can start

What type of business have you got in mind?
If one needs freedom daw, bring your own boss, you.
There are pros and cons in business. I started the internet shop, i suffered the cons at first more than the pros(profits), as the days goes by,now it is our third year,we (my children and I learned from our mistakes, we made up to our losses for the last two years, Bawi na rin kahit matagal ,now it was picking up nicely.Whew!
The cons I would like to share (before anyone deciding to put up a business)are:
the pitfalls, (how one can avoid it,)
exact costs when starting a business,
rent cost,
location, (check if there is market and who?)
liscence and permits,
signs,
employees,
promotion/gimmicks,
more financing after starting,(because you need to pay this and that besides investing)
customers, (how to bring and keep them,)
merchandise buying, (what to buy, how to buy, where to buy,)
if retail, (how to present it to have an appealing effect.)
All this I didnt consider when starting the business.
Here are some business ideas I am suggesting... in case one would like to start one.
SERVICES (dry cleaning, typing job, copy shop, maid services, lawyers' aid, watch repair, keys duplication, singing telegrams, tutorial service, room mate finding service, carpet cleaning, day care service, rent bestsellers, pet hotel services, massage in the mall etc etc.)
FOOD :( breakfast in bed to some hotels, cookie shop, low cal bakery, ice cream parlor, sandwich shop, convenience food store ala 7eleven,doughnut shop, coffee shop, pizzeria, hotdog ala french, corn in a cub, hamburger stand, salad bar restaurant, popcorn vending, fresh buko stand, etc etc.)
RETAIL: (Ukay ukay (shh dont laugh but its good business even in France)gift shop, womens shops, antique shop, furniture store, hobby shop,do it yourself framing shop, jewelry, shoes shop, bags shop etc etc.)
Among others are: recreational sports, automotive, manufacturing, tourism, publishing, franchises, the unusual like import export, paper recycling, bonsai collecting/selling,contest promoting, swap meet promoting, hold fashionable parties...
What do you think of being a Boss of your own? In Philippines pa naman, the minimum salary is 300 pesos? Maghahabol ka nag jeep or fx balikan, gastos pamasahe, stocking, lipstick, makeup, baon or lunch sa canteen, may utang pa nababayran sa SM giftcheck, magkano nalang maiiwan? Thats why I put up this internet shop, I dont like my children to run their lives like that.
I remember Atty Pulido's sister after graduation from college has to work in a bank as a teller for 7000 pesos monthly, eh their family driver daw earning the same salary,LOL livein pa sa kanila and minsan wala byahe, so pahinga!Yong 7000 ni sister daw bawasin pa ang everyday expenses to go to work!
Give your family daw a fishing rod to find fish for them to eat, not providing them the fish daily...

i guess running a business is not in my family's veins. we don't know how to deal with it. my dad started to be a rice negotiator after retirement, pagod na sya sa farming and it doesnt really give us big income, mas pagod pa sya. but then, naging utangan lang sya ng mga clients nya..and you know how it goes in the phils.
with the townhouse in manila, we accepted some boarders as we have extra rooms, kaya lang, pambayad pa lang yata ng kuryente, andun na yung renta. seeing my sis how they handle the renting business, i just realized that they dont have the character to run a business, masyado silang mabait!
square as i am, i cant even have the accounting details of all the expenses and profits in black and white, i dont even know how much i have in my bank account in the phils...but you now, no matter how much i rehearse para pagalitan sis ko, nauuwi lang lagi sa tsismisan each phonecall!
well, they're not my subordinates, i just cannot fire them! i guess if i have to run a business, it should be me..my family isnt at all like me na makapal ang mukha and do everything to get what i want...anyways...

I started this internet business, dumami naging "kaibigan" ko from the neighbors! LOL
Wala kami kita, because the jealousy starts and they try to pin us down, na bawal ang gamings near the school, inaaway ako ng mga nanay pag sundo ng anak nila, mga teachers sinusundo ang mga students para hindi mag stay kahit nood lang, nililista ang students na drop by, then may record sa school, pati principal ng school, sinusulatan ako. Deadma. I didnt answer them, I just let them think , I sink it all in.LOL
Buti before starting, I get a liscence, dti and mayors permit, have the barangay check the area, approved nila for internet and gaming.Saya ko, palagay ako telepono, signage, promo flyers. And gimmicks: play three hours in a day get one hour free.
When we survived the one year, wala kita, ayon sa sales records, mas dumami expenses, kasi we dont know how to operate, bayad kami technician every other week, laki laki gastos. Buti hindi naman napapanis ang mga pc and they are all brand new.Bili pyesa everymonth, mouse lagi sira, keyboard lagi sira.
Then dami nangungutang, puro big smiles when kaharap ka.
Marunong ako tumangggi, politely, trained by Michel. Sabi ko, wala kita eh, sorry. May hihingi ng abuloy, politely ko rin sinasabi, meron kami lisensiya from the brgy, so we gave the abuloy to the brgy to help you with burial expenses. Hehehe.mautak ito noh!
Later on, anak ko na technician, kasi she studied all the tech are doing when around. 800 pesos per pc pa naman singil nila eh 13 pc kami!
ngayon hindi na oy!siya na lahat pc games and internet problems.
I think if nasa puso mo ang negosyo, even there are pitfalls, if the goal is to survive the business, the business will survive. Pag nagkapangalan na raw, saka makikilala.Saka uunlad.
Hindi ko pinapalampas na wala sales record for the month, kaya we know if we survives or not...
Tyagaan laang..

I really admire you for being negosyante. My mom was too but either I didn't inherit the trait or I just didn't have the inclination. Mga problema sa negosyo dala mo sa bahay 24/7 sa office pag-uwi mo you can relax and forget - siempre may times na OT talaga. Ang negosyo ng parents ko noon bakery (Los Filipinos Bakery sa Iloilo City - they sold it a long time ago) naka-5 branches sila, very successful pero I saw how hard they worked and the sakit ng ulo, naku! Someone is selling me a dry-cleaning business here pero palagay ko I will not bite. I am starting an internet business so hopefully that will be better. We'll see.
Hi Amy! Ay sus! feeling ko patay mag negosyo sa Pilipinas these days. Dapat ma stabilize muna economy natin.
Totoo yan Marie,
imagine 18% a year interest kung mag loan ka! Mama mia. Dito sa France 5.41% per year interest, refuse namin, kasi malaki na yan for us, ano sila bali!
Bombay lang ata kumikita sa bansa natin eh!

I've tried a few small businesses in the Phils while my visa application was under process and I tell you , kailangan matibay ang loob mo and katwan kasi SOBRANG hirap!!You will encounter manloloko everywhere & everyday ultimo kailiit liitang bagay kailangan maglagay ka ( e.g. permit, lisence etch ) .Hay nakuh , sumuko ako tita dahil mabubuang ako. I tried karinderya , concessionare sa staff canteen ng Robinson Mall and last was an internet cafe.
Anyhoo ,it doesn't mean you'll suffer the same fate I had. I guess I wasn't smart enough to do business in the Phils.
Best of luck to you and I hope it will be a success.
